At least 10 villagers were killed and many others injured on Monday by unidentified gunmen in Nigeriaâs northeastern Taraba state, police said. The attack took place in the Bali area of the province, Taraba State Police Spokesperson David Misal told local media. Security forces have been dispatched to the area, he added. A conflict that started in 2008 between cattle herdsmen and farmers has turned into kidnapping attempts and robberies since 2015. Last year, more than 3,000 people lost their lives in the country due to armed clashes between various gangs. As part of Operation Puff Adder conducted between April and July last year, a total of 2,504 gang members were captured and some 207 people, who were kidnapped for ransom, were rescued. ⨠*Writing by Merve Berker Cookies are used limited to the purposes in th e Personal Data Protection Law No.6698 and in accordance with the legislation.
